چکیده

Consistency modeling for gene selection is a new topic emerging from our recent cancer bioinformatics research. We found that the result of classification or clustering on a training set was often quite different compared to using a testing set. Here, we address this as a consistency problem. In practice, the inconsistency of microarray datasets prevents many typical gene selection methods working properly for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. In an attempt to deal with this problem, we propose a new gene selection method in terms of performance based on consistency.

SFLA Based Gene Selection Approach for Improving Cancer Classification Accuracy

In this paper, we propose a new gene selection algorithm based on Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm that is called SFLA-FS. The proposed algorithm is used for improving cancer classification accuracy. Most of the biological datasets such as cancer datasets have a large number of genes and few samples. However, most of these genes are not usable in some tasks for example in cancer classification....

Prediction of blood cancer using leukemia gene expression data and sparsity-based gene selection methods

Background: DNA microarray is a useful technology that simultaneously assesses the expression of thousands of genes. It can be utilized for the detection of cancer types and cancer biomarkers. This study aimed to predict blood cancer using leukemia gene expression data and a robust ℓ2,p-norm sparsity-based gene selection method. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study, the microarray ...

Selection of suitable reference genes for real-time PCR studies of early developmental stages of sturgeons

In quantitative real-time PCR, the mRNA level can be quantified in relative terms based on the expression ratio of mRNAs of the target gene and an internal reference gene. Since, an internal standard should be expressed at a constant level among different tissues of an organism at all stages of development, and should be unaffected by the experimental treatment, the stability of different refer...

Selection-based Weak Sequential Consistency Models for Distributed Shared Memory

Based on time, processor, and data selection techniques, a group of Weak Sequential Consistency models have been proposed to improve the performance of Sequential Consistency for Distributed Shared Memory. These models can guarantee Sequential Consistency for data-race-free programs that are properly labelled. This paper reviews and discusses these models in terms of their use of the selection ...

Consistency Measures for Feature Selection: A Formal Definition, Relative Sensitivity Comparison, and a Fast Algorithm

Consistency-based feature selection is an important category of feature selection research yet is defined only intuitively in the literature. First, we formally define a consistency measure, and then using this definition, evaluate 19 feature selection measures from the literature. While only 5 of these were labeled as consistency measures by their original authors, by our definition, an additi...
